Introduction and objective:: Combined oral contraceptives (COCs) are one of the most popular methods contraception worldwide. The universality this method leads to constant analysis its influence on female body. purpose study is discuss selected side effects COC use.
 Review methods: In July 2022, articles found in Medline (Pubmed) Google Scholar databases were by using following keywords: contraceptive use; risk cancer; depression; hormonal contraception; venous thrombosis.
 Brief description state knowledge: use has been shown be associated with a 2-6 fold increase developing thromboembolism (VTE). component responsible for effect was initially thought synthetic estrogen - ethinylestradiol. It now recognized as having greatest mood disorders. An increased cancer reported women taking COCs case breast liver cancer. Inverse relationship observed colorectal cancer, ovarian endometrial cancer.
